Project: Cancer Research Initiatives

Client: National Cancer Institute, Office of Science Planning and Assessment

Role: Information Architect, Usability Analyst

Challenge: Speed researchers' access to funding opportunities

I developed a new information architecture for the Cancer Research Initiatives site. Previously information was four clicks from the home page. I redesigned the home page to a query-type interface which allows researchers to immediately select their particular area of interest (both by disease and by type of research), to search by NIH Guide Announcement number or to do a keyword search.

Usability testing with researchers indicated both improved performance with and preference for the new design.

I also initiated and supervised development of customized email notifications.
